1. Pain
Chiropractors help millions of people every year to get out of pain and feel better. By restoring balance to the spine and nervous system, the rest of our body’s systems tend to function better and, as a result, pain and a variety of other symptoms improve. Instead of merely attempting to mask pain, chiropractors focus on correcting its underlying cause.
The most common problems for which most patients come to our center are:
Back pain
Worldwide, back pain is the single leading cause of disability, preventing many people from engaging in work as well as other everyday activities. Causes of back pain are varied and can include: poor posture, spinal misalignments, excess weight, scoliosis, spinal degeneration, poorly healed injuries, and accidents.
One of the most extensive reports on back pain in scientific literature is the “Manga Report.” This study, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health (Canada) in 1993, demonstrated that manipulation of the spine by chiropractors for the treatment of back pain is more effective, safer and less expensive than conventional medical treatments.
Headaches
It is estimated that ¼ of the population suffers from headaches on a regular basis. Despite home common they are, they should not be considered normal at all. A headache is a warning alarm that something is “off” in the body. The most common cause of headaches is an overloaded nervous system (known as stress).
Vertigo and dizziness
The feeling that our world is spinning, paleness, cold sweats, nausea, despondency, sialorrhea (excess saliva) are some of the symptoms associated with vertigo or dizziness. The most common causes are head trauma and cervical whiplash.
Low back pain
As the title would suggest, pain in the lower back (lumbar spine), usually accompanied by restricted range of motion and involvement of soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendon, nerves), as well as structural misalignment of the spinal bones.
Low back pain can be incredibly debilitating and severely restrict one’s quality of life. The World Health Organization estimates that 80% the world’s population will experience low back pain at some time in their lives.
Sciatica
The sciatic nerve is the largest and longest in the body. When the sciatic nerve is affected it can cause pain from the lower back down the buttocks and legs, sometimes extending to the ankle, foot, and toes.
2. Prevention
As I mentioned earlier, although our primary focus is not treating pain or symptoms, most patients come to our center seeking relief. Once they feel better, their focus logically shifts to preventing the problem from returning. The second P of chiropractic is Prevention.
Chiropractic care helps patients prevent relapses and nudges the body towards an optimal state of health and well-being.
We strive to maintain an ideal communication between our central nervous system and the rest of our organs, muscles and tissues. This communication is carried out by electrochemical impulses (similar to electricity running through a cable), which can either be enhanced or diminished. If it is diminished over time, it can trigger health issues. Chiropractic adjustments aid our overall health by keeping our brain and body connected and communicating properly.
Receiving chiropractic care on a regular basis extends the health and life of our spine, as well as prevents progressive spinal degeneration. This helps to improve our quality of life in all areas.
Pregnancy
Chiropractic is great for pregnant women, as adjustments have been shown to help keep the pelvis aligned and flexible, leading to healthier pregnancies (for mom and child) as well as decreased labor times.
Posture – chiropractic helps improve posture by aligning the head over the shoulders, and shoulders over the hips. This “opens” up the thoracic cavity, makes breathing easier and fuller, while reducing tension in the shoulders as well as the risk of back pain, joint problems, fatigue, and headaches.
Studies show that chiropractic also helps normalize blood pressure. High blood pressure can be the cause of or contribute to a series of health problems like stroke and heart attack.
Seniors
Aside from improving our physical and mental mobility, reducing inflammatory processes and pain, chiropractic also helps increase balance and awareness, which leads to fewer falls and injuries.
Falls, generally caused by a loss of balance, can be fatal for older people. A broken arm, leg, or hip can lead to hospitalizations and possible surgical interventions. Hospital-acquired infections are extremely common (and dangerous) and people with weakened immune systems at high risk.
3. Performance
The ultimate goal in chiropractic is to reach the third “P”- Performance. Performance is not only for elite athletes or olympians, rather it is for anyone that wants to have an extraordinary life (which starts with extraordinary health).
Optimal performance, what I call living a +10 life, means that everything is working properly in your body and mind. It means experiencing high levels of vitality, health and happiness and a sense of satisfaction in life on a daily basis. This is what chiropractic is all about, helping us perform at our best in all aspects of life.

Besides, who wouldn't want to live optimally?
We have one life and it is up to us to make it as complete and wonderful as possible. So, if you are a parent who wants to be your best self for your children, if you want clear focus at work or in your studies to achieve personal or professional success, or you are an athlete seeking an “edge” in competition, at Punt Vital we can help you achieve a +10 life and perform optimally.
